Word from outside the chamber was that felony tax evader Democrat Lake County Councilman Will Smith resigned.
I hope that it is true.
You know that my next rumor was going to be that if Smith got anything less than a year in jail at his sentencing, he and Counil Attorney Szarmack were going to say that technically that isn't a felony, and Smith would NOT resign his seat.
That second rumor might still play out. Let's see if Smith really resigns.

I joked on my blog, by just think if work release was an option in the federal system ... we could have a councilman reporting to do his council duties during the day, then back to jail at night. You know that he'd be asking for that, if it was a possibility.
