Democrats threaten to shut the State of Indiana down instead of pass a budget that they don't agree with.
I say bring it on.
As we saw with the Sanford incident, people really think that life on earth required the government to run every aspect of their lives. The truth is very different.
Things will run smoothly without state government. People will go to Illinois to gamble. Or better yet, save their money. What else do you need the government to do for you?
This will be an educational experience.

As inefficient and downright counterproductive government can be, we shouldn't just limit things to "shut it down". A better way is to create a private clearinghouse to take care of the people that the cruel democrats are willing to throw under the bus. Such a response would do two things, burnish conservative/libertarian reputations for compassion and also provide data on the comparative costs of private v public solutions to the people's problems.
I fully expect private action to be more cost effective.
A lot of people in the middle would be more comfortable with turning off public solutions if they had some real life examples of how private charities and other NGOs step up when government leaves the picture. The more examples, the more of the middle sides with us.
