Lake and Porter counties are two of the largest counties in the state, both ranking in the top 10 in population.
However, they both send a relatively small number of inmates to the Indiana Department of Correction compared with other, according to numbers from the department. In 2010, Lake County, the second largest county by population in the state, ranked ninth in the number of inmates, 423, it sent to the DOC, behind not only other large counties such as Marion and Allen but smaller ones as well, including Wayne County, home to Richmond.
...
Another possible explanation then for the differences between Allen and Lake counties is the number of criminal cases that get dismissed. Allen County dismissed just 184 cases in 2010, while Lake County dismissed 804 cases. Even Porter County, which is smaller in population than Allen County, dismissed 336 cases.
Politically connected Democrat lawyers manipulate the system to get their clients off scott free.

Lake county is just an extension of Crook county in Illinois! The majority of crimes commited in Lake county is from Gary, then East Chicago and Hammond. It will be hard to stop this system. The Democrats really have a stronghold on these places,
I hate to break it to all of you, but the corruption isn't limited to one party.
It's concentrated in the Democrat party now, but how long do any of you think it would take for OC to corrupt the Republicans if they took over? Anyone who thinks it would take more than 2 terms needs to open their eyes.
Why do you think a certain county councilman was hired by the Democrat controlled county government as soon as he left office?
Who are the Democrat outsiders equivalent to Joe Hero and Buzzcut? I'm pretty sure that there is a vulnerability but that the GOP is not a simple mirror image.
Joe Hero may annoy a lot of GOP insiders but he's an irritant that could further the party (including the power of those same insiders), if it could only be smart enough to make better use of him and those who look up to him.
