I didn't see this coming!
While the Katz's were involved in the Dan Klein feud, it does seem to me that Allan would be a step up from Kim Krull. There might be less feuding.
I also like that he is independently wealthy, and as a former CEO has very good speaking abilities.
On the downside, he is awfully full of himself (likes to tell people he is a Yale grad, which to me is a negative, not a positive), but then, who isn't. ;)
Is Katz higher on my list than Dernulc? I like that Katz isn't a Dumey guy, but then he doesn't have skin in the game like Dernulc has. I think Dernulc has more of a track record of reasonableness, and perhaps actually walking away from a feud or two. Dernulc also won't have Krull as vice chair, nor will he use George Janiac in any capacity.

Like you I was also surprised by Katz. However, I don't think we should have been. He has always had a large presence a major republican events. Also like you I believe Dernulc is a better choice. I think since he comes from the north end of the county he offers a new perspective that is needed to grow the entire Lake County Republican Party.
After seeing how he ran his wife's campaign, with the added cherry of triple k being his vice and knowing there is no feud he won't walk himself into (vendetta against Kline)... Its a sealed deal. Dan gets my vote and I'll be working quietly in the back ground towards that end.
I can see where you are coming from, Anon. I'm leaning your way. Getting rid of Janiac is probably worth it.
